Food Packaging: Scientific Developments Supporting Safety and Quality

Food Additives and Contaminants. 2009;26(12):1525-1648

As for the three previous symposia on Food Packaging, the emphasis of the event was put on providing scientists a platform for the exchange of research results and to stimulate debate on innovation in scientific approaches and new packaging techniques. Topics covered developments in risk assessment, sustainability and novel packaging, analytical challenges, emerging issues and their impact on risk assessment, and packaging quality insurance.

The participations of scientists from universities, companies, government and research institutions from all over the world demonstrated the growing interest in food packaging-related topics and demonstrates that the safety of food packaging will be an an-going issue on the agenda.
