ILSI Europe organised a workshop entitled ‘New horizons in chemical risk assessment – Re-shaping ILSI Europe’s food safety programme’. The workshop took place on the 16th of October 2013 in Brussels, Belgium.
PROGRAMME
The programme is available here.
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES
Food safety is a moving field at the cutting edge of science: new contaminants are discovered, new technologies are developed to measure them, the food production chain adopts safer techniques. In a globalised food chain, it represents a real challenge for authorities, the food industry and risk managers at large to ensure that consumers are offered with the safest products. To remain at the forefront of food safety research, ILSI Europe aims to reinforce its scientific programme in chemical risk assessment.
The workshop allowed us to redefine the role and contribution of ILSI Europe in the field of chemical risk assessment. The key objectives of the workshop were to identify current scientific knowledge gaps in food safety and to undertake a detailed mapping of potential activities of interest for the food industry.
WHO ATTENDED?
This workshop was mainly targeted for scientists from the food industry, working in small, medium and big size companies along the food production value chain.
