BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES

Integrated approaches to food allergen and allergy risk management (iFAAM) is a 4-year research project funded under the 7th Framework Programme. The iFAAM consortium consists of 38 partner organisations, coordinated by the University of Manchester. The overall objective of iFAAM is to develop evidence-based approaches and tools for the management of allergens in food and integrating knowledge derived from their application into food allergy management plans and dietary advice by health care practitioners. Within iFAAM a clinically validated tiered risk assessment approach for food allergens is developed.
