The session, organised by ILSI Europe, presented the GUIDEA database, a centralised and comprehensive platform to assess the exposure of individuals to substances in foods and by promoting the use of Benchmark Dose Modelling (BDM) to derive a Margin of Exposure (MoE) for substances that are genotoxic and carcinogenic. Criteria to assess the impact of control measures on exposure and health was also tackled. Additionally, strategies to address exposure to multiple chemicals and to Non-Intentionally Added Substances were presented.

The session was supported by the following task forces: Food Intake Methodology, Risk Assessment of Genotoxic Carcinogens, Process Related Compounds and Natural Toxins, Threshold of Toxicological Concern and Packaging Materials.
