ILSI Europe joins the European Food Safety Authority Stakeholders’ Community

ILSI Europe has successfully passed the application to become a registered European Food Safety Authorities (EFSA) Stakeholder. On 25 February 2022, EFSA officially announced that ILSI Europe meets the eligibility criteria endorsed by the Authority’s Management Board.
Under the Business and Food Industry category as a non-for-profit organisation, ILSI Europe will be now considered as a “registered EFSA Stakeholder.” This label will bring more opportunities to actively contribute to EFSA activities in the fields of food safety and food security and to better meet the expectations of the European (EU) citizens.
Joint with the Transparency Register, this achievement brings a stronger relationship with the European institutions, facilitating collaboration on a shared vision regarding to safe and healthy food.

The domains of stakeholder engagement
ILSI Europe may engage with EFSA in the following domains:

  • Foresight and preparedness: horizon scanning and foresight activities so EFSA can stay relevant for policymakers and EU citizens and be prepared for the challenges ahead.
  • Risk assessment process: topic-based engagement on EFSA’s mandates and applications to improve the quality and transparency of EFSA’s scientific advice.
  • Dialogue with stakeholders: open dialogue between EFSA and stakeholders to build mutual understanding of roles, responsibilities, and priorities.
