We are glad to announce that Dr Douwina Bosscher is ILSI Europe’s new Chairwoman. Dr Bosscher, Cargill’s R&D Director (GEOS Europe), takes over from her predecessor Dr Laurent Le Bellego, who ended his mandate in October 2020.
Douwina thus leads the ILSI Europe Board of Directors (BOD) and the General Assembly (GA) for a mandate of 2 years. She inherits the legacy of the ILSI Europe Transformation initiated by the previous BOD and takes charge of the mission to make it successful over time.
“I look forward to helping to finalise the transformation of ILSI Europe to keep up with the dynamic and ever-changing external environment ”says Douwina.“I believe in the benefits of the involvement in a scientific organization such as ILSI Europe, which enables experts to interact with their peers, develop their scientific networks and contribute to the state of the science. Not only does this work support ILSI Europe members and its stakeholders, it’s a great learning opportunity for people”.
We are glad to continue the journey with Dr Bosscher, whose scientific and leadership experience bring highly valuable skills to keep ILSI Europe’s Transformation alive. Moreover, Douwina, the first woman in the organisations’ 35-year history to hold this position, marks a turning point for the organisation’s corporate social responsibility goals and diversity practices.
Dr Bosscher is R&D Director Europe in the Cargill Global Edible Oils Solutions Business Group. She holds a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences and is a renowned lecturer of Nutrition and Food Sciences at the University of Antwerp (Belgium).
ILSI Europe seizes the moment to thank past-Chair Dr Laurent Le Bellego (2017-2020) for his long-standing commitment and tireless drive towards the New ILSI Europe. Dr Le Bellego will continue to provide his experience to the new Chair and Board as an elected Board Member.
